Officers from the Germiston Police Station took to the streets of the CBD, last Tuesday, in a crime prevention patrol.
While patrolling in Knox Street officers noticed a 29-year-old man acting suspiciously.
“When they approached the man he ran away,” said Const Maxwell Mabunda, communications officer for the Germiston SAPS.
“Police gave chase and were able to apprehend the suspect.”

During a search of the suspect officers found a rifle and a live round of ammunition.
“Police questioned him about the rifle and became suspicious about his story,” said Mabunda.
“They escorted him to his house where they found a pistol and four firearm holsters.
“The suspect was unable to provide police with a license for either firearm or explain why he had the four holsters.”
He was arrested on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of suspected stolen property.
He was taken to the Germiston Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
