Busy weekend for Katlehong police

The Katlehong police shared their weekend arrest statistics.

Twenty-nine suspects were arrested in the Katlehong area between February 21 and 23.

This is according to the latest arrest statistics released by the Katlehong Police Station.

The suspects were arrested by officers from the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit, detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and members of the EMPD in a number of different operations held throughout the precinct.

The suspects were charged with various offences.

Charges included attempted murder, rape, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, interfering with police duties, intimidation, possession of drugs and driving under the influence of alcohol.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander, Col Phakama Gcaza, was pleased with the arrests made, but concerned with the high number of serious crimes in the area, including attempted murder and rape.
