Sassa grants will be available this week

Councillor urges community to assist the elderly.

Ward 36 councillor Wendy Morgan has given the following update on the collection of Sassa grants.

Pensioner and disability grants will be paid on March 30 and 31, while all other grants will be available from April 1.

“Pick n Pay Primrose will not be doing Sassa payouts during the lockdown,” said Morgan.

“Shoprite will, however, be doing Sassa payments from 7.30am to 6pm.

“Please remember to practice social distancing.”

She reminded the community that Sassa grants can be drawn from ATMs and that the money does not have to be withdrawn on the specific days, but will remain on a person’s card until it is withdrawn.

“There is no panic to access your money,” she said.

She also urged people to assist the elderly where possible so that they are not vulnerable.
