Security guard alerts police to alleged shoplifting incident

The Primrose police apprehended a 35-year-old man on a charge of shoplifting.

Officers from the Primrose Police Station were called to a store in Rietfontein Road, recently.

“When police arrived the store’s security guard explained that he had been at the shop’s main entrance when he noticed a man acting suspiciously,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“As the suspect tried to leave, the security guard stopped him and searched him.

“He was allegedly found in possession of eight boxes of Med-Lemon valued at R719, which he had no proof of purchase for.”

The 35-year-old was arrested on a charge of shoplifting.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
