It is never too lateto start a new career
Chef Mfanufikile Dhlamini graduated from a culinary training institute in 2019,runs his own business and operates as a private chef.
Dhlamini started his new career at the age of 37 and is now the proud owner of FAM Café Private Chefs & Co, which also includes an online bakery and supplier of freshly baked goods.
During the lockdown, Dhlamini is offering a range of ready-made meals as well as baked items. He also has a Facebook page featuring a variety of recipes for meals to make at home.

When asked about his culinary journey and how has it been so far, he said, It’s been amazing. It has opened my eyes to many prospects, possibilities and opportunities in the culinary world.
I have since learnt that as a chef I should not limit myself to food preparation and cooking. I can also venture into other aspects of the food business or industry, ranging from food production, food photography, and styling, which is something that never crossed my mind when I first started out.
He said part of his training included industry placements where trainees were deployed or assigned to various high-level restaurants and hotels. This, he said, gave him a real picture and experience of what the industry after graduation had in store for him.
Dhlamini believes young people should not limit themselves to academic studies only, as there is life and lots to learn in other fields.
