The EMPD Speed Enforcement Unit members arrested three drivers for failing to adhere to the 120km/h speed limit on the N3 south near the Rand Airport off-ramp in Germiston on September 20.
Kobeli Mokheseng, EMPD spokesperson, said a 32-year-old man driving a silver Opel Corsa was caught doing 174km/h, just before 7am.
“In the second case, a 34-year old male driver in a grey BMW M3 sedan was caught clocking 173km/h at 8am.”
Mokheseng added a 26-year-old female driver was stopped at about 8.30am for registering 162km/h.
“She claimed she was test driving her brand new Mazda CX-5, with her dad as the passenger.
“The three drivers were taken to Germiston Police Station and face charges of reckless and negligent driving. All wrongdoers, are expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.”
