SAPS and EMPD arrest suspect, confiscate R90 000 in drugs and chemicals in Ekurhuleni operation

A joint police operation on Kingfisher Road led to the seizure of suspected Mandrax, manufacturing chemicals, and an attempted bribery probe.

A man has been arrested for possession of drugs and attempted bribery following an intelligence-driven operation on Kingfisher Road in Ekurhuleni.

Crime Intelligence members conducted observations in the area after receiving information about a suspect allegedly distributing illicit substances.

Officers spotted a blue Chery vehicle matching the description of the car used in the operation.

The SAPS Ekurhuleni District Trio Tracing Team and the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) were called in. They located, stopped, and searched the vehicle, finding a bag containing 376 suspected Mandrax tablets.

Further investigation led officers to the suspect’s residence, where they seized additional substances and chemicals believed to be used in drug manufacturing, valued at an estimated R90 000.

The suspect allegedly offered officers R4 000 in cash in exchange for his release. He is expected to appear in court on charges of drug possession and attempted bribery, while police investigations continue.
