Katlehong SAPS arrest three suspects for rape

The Katlehong SAPS has commended the local community of Moleleki Extension Four for their role in helping detectives arrest three men suspected of kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl.

According to Sgt Sivenkosi Mtwa, the spokesperson for the Katlehong SAPS, the police received a report about a missing teenager on October 22.

Mtwa said the girl was found the next day and gave her parents the description of her abductors.

The mother took her daughter to the local hospital where a doctor confirmed that she was raped. Upon hearing this, local residents went on a search for the three men.

Residents finally cornered the three men and immediately called the police to come and arrest them. Members of the Katlehong SAPS’s Crime Prevention reacted swiftly.

The suspects were taken into custody for questioning as well as to undergo buccal swabs to determine their involvement in the sexual assault of the14-year-old girl. The victim was taken to a place of safety by social workers.

The case was handed over to the Family violence Centre and Sexual offence victims (FCS) detectives.
