Food Forward touching lives one meal at a time

Food forward has a number of programmes that assist in addressing hunger.

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected many in different ways but one of the issues that has been of serious concern for some has been food. Food Forward is an NPO that assists by supplying food to the needy.

Food Forward’s fund development manager Deidre Adams said, “Food insecurity is just increasing. Before the pandemic hit, we were serving about 255 000 beneficiaries through 670 beneficiary organisations.

“Within a few months we expanded our reach to feed 475 000 people through 1 000 beneficiary organisations.”

“Before beneficiaries become part of our network, we practise due diligence to ensure they are eligible,” said Adams.

“Our model is not a ‘once-off’ distribution of food parcels. Children need regular, nutritious meals to develop physically and cognitively. When the elderly receive regular, nutritious meals it improves their well-being and immunity,” said Adams.
