Ekurhuleni West District officers make several arrests

Ekurhuleni West District Zone 4 SAPS and other law enforcement agencies embarked on operations around Ekurhuleni West precinct area where roadblocks and VCP’s were conducted with the purpose to combat crime.

“Five were arrested for driving while intoxicated and 13 were arrested for contravening Disaster Management Act based on level three offences,” said Elsburg SAPS spokesperson Sgt Daphney Phooko.

Suspects were also arrested for crimes ranging from assault with the intent to inflict bodily harm, common assault, theft, armed robbery, fraud, house burglary and theft, malicious damage to property, possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle, dealing in narcotics, business burglary, shoplifting, illegal gambling and possession of suspected stolen property.

Germiston Crime Prevention team conducted an intelligence-driven operation, where a 48-year-old man was busted for dealing in drugs to the value of R1.2-million.
