Thol’ thuba offering up coming athletes a fighting chances

We want to bridge that gap and help them reach their full potential. If we offer that support and encouragement that child stand a chance at dreaming beyond their situation because sport is an escape for many children.

Thol’thuba athletics, meaning “give a chance”, is an organisation offering support and inspiring struggling athletes with resources to grow in their sporting codes.

“Thol’ thuba is here to inspire and support youth athletes as we are aware of the struggles that can hinder young athletes from realising their dreams,” said founder Tholi Zuzani.

“We assist underprivileged athletes and sporting clubs by providing sporting equipment and linking them with all the right resources that will ensure them a fair chance in fulfilling their dreams.”

Thol’ Thuba caters for athletes in the Germiston and Joburg area. “We have many underprivileged children in our communities that are always overlooked or sidelined because they don’t have the proper equipment and attire to participate in the sport.

Yet, they are talented. We want to bridge that gap and help them reach their full potential.
“If we offer that support and encouragement a child stands a chance of escaping their circumstances,” said Tholi.

The organisation sources for sponsors to donate sporting equipment to aid teams in need. They provide a social media platform where young athletes can interact with pro athletes and coaches for guidance.

They also promote athletes and their talent. “Many teams in the underprivileged areas are not formally structured or registered. They are, however dedicated and passionate. They just lack the resources and guidance.

He said the community inspired him to establish the organisation after seeing the young people struggling with resources.

“Not having soccer boots can be a hinder a child’s hopes of taking flight. I wanted to offer them hope by providing the little resource they need and help them dream big,” said Tholi.

“We hope one day big teams can come to Tholi’ Thuba to scout our players as we also sport a soccer team,” said Tholi.

He said the organisation is not only sourcing equipment, they also provide emotional and mental support to the children.

“Sometimes young people think if you play soccer education is not important. We teach the players the importance of education.”
