Three men arrested for unlicensed firearms at Endaweni Pub

Vosloorus SAPS station commander Brig Themba Denge applauded the community for sharing information with the police.

Three men were arrested by Vosloorus SAPS for possession of illegal firearms and ammunition at Endaweni Pub and Grill in Vosloorus on April 25.

According to Vosloorus SAPS media liaison officer Capt Piet Rossouw, police received information about suspicious men at Endaweni Pub and Grill.

He said SAPS members and with security personnel approached the three suspicious men and searched them.

“All three suspects were found in possession of firearms and ammunition. They could not produce any licences for the firearms and ammunition. Police arrested and detained them at the Vosloorus Police Station,” said Rossouw.

Three illegal firearms have been removed from the community after the police seized them at Endaweni Pub and Grill in Vosloorus on April 25.

The suspects will appear in the Vosloorus Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

He said this proved that with the assistance of the community, serious crimes could be prevented.

“However, it is of great concern that the patrons are not searched before entering a licensed liquor outlet. It is illegal to possess a firearm in a licensed liquor premise,” Denge concluded.
