Police nab suspect, seize a 9mm pistol

The suspect will appear in the Vereeniging Magistrate's Court soon.

The Sedibeng District Task Team received a tip-off from community members, which led to the arrest of one suspect for possessing an unlicensed firearm and ammunition at Kopano Street in Orange Farm, on May 12.

The police went to the address and upon arrival, they searched the house.

Sedibeng police spokesperson Capt Thivhulawi Tshilate said after discovering a Z88 Petro Baretta 9mm pistol without a magazine and one ammunition, they arrested the suspect.

The Orange Farm SAPS station commander, Brig Sibongile Ndaba, applauded the ongoing good relationship between the police and community members in squeezing crime out of the Orange Farm policing area.

The suspect will appear in the Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court soon.
