Gun shop abandoned, police seize several firearms

Police will conduct investigations to determine whether there were no firearms used in the commission of crimes.

Police opened a case of negligent handling of firearms at Crusaders Arms and Ammunitions on Kruger Street, Vereeniging CBD, on May 20.

Sedibeng district corporate communications officer Capt Thivhulawi Tshilate said the arms and ammunition shop was abandoned for almost two years by the owner after failing to settle the building’s monthly rentals.

Tshilate said police seized a total of 330 firearms and ammunition for safekeeping.
