Police warn community of a new scam
“The suspect claims to be a police officer and calls people claiming their stolen property has been recovered.”
Primrose SAPS informed the community that no money should be paid to reclaim stolen property.
Primrose SAPS spokesperson Sgt Styles Maome warned residents against a scam of this nature.

“The suspect claims to be a police officer and calls people claiming their stolen property has been recovered. People do not pay to have their stolen property returned. No one has to pay for anything because the police services are free to the community.
“This has been going on for a while and we have people who have been victims of this scam,” said Maome.
He explained people are instructed to deposit a certain amount of cash at certain retail stores.
“That it is how he covers his tracks. If anyone is ever asked to pay to have their property returned, that person is advised to come forward and report it at the police station,” said Maome.
