Elsburg Hall refurbishment completed
The key was handed over to Ward 39 Clr Alta De Beer on July 7 by the contractor.
The Elsburg community will be able to use its community hall.
It has been about five years that the community had to settle for a nonfunctioning hall, which meant the public had to hold community meetings and arts and culture activities under trees.
Ward 39 Clr Alta De Beer said she is thankful that the renovation of the hall has been completed.

“It is an achievement. After four years, since being vandalised, the hall is now available to the community to use for community events again. As soon as we can have a public meeting, I will arrange a formal opening and community meeting in the hall,” said de Beer.
She urged the community to look after the hall and not allow for it to be vandalised.
“I would like to urge the community to also assist in keeping an eye on the property. I am waiting for confirmation on whether a full-time supervisor will be stationed at the hall,” added de Beer.
The hall renovations started last year in November and were supposed to take three months.
The following was refurbished at the hall:
• Replacement of suspended timber floors
• Wall and floor tiling, internal and external painting
• Replacement of damaged ceiling boards
• Replacement of damaged doors
• Replacement of door locks

• Installation of canopies
• Internal plaster and screeds
• Repairing and waterproofing of roofs
