#IMadeMyMark: What Germiston’s Freedom Front Plus candidates have to say

Which service delivery problem in your ward (area), which hinders the rebuilding of the ward’s local economy, will you address first and how?

As part of its role to inform our readers, GCN publicly invited the ward candidates in the relevant wards to answer one question: Which service delivery problem in your ward (area), which hinders the rebuilding of the ward’s local economy, will you address first and how?

The FF Plus candidates responded as follows:
Ward 39 Bianke Denise Nortman:
Bianke is actively involved in her community as she cares for the elderly, provides food and clothing to people in informal settlements and ensures the animals at the SPCA have enough food.

She is well aware of the problems in Ward 39 where there are numerous illegal electricity connections, illegal construction sites, street lights that are out of order and serious sewage problems.

Bianke selected the FF Plus as a vehicle to bring about change in the metro council, seeing as she believes the party’s local government policy offers the solutions needed to put a stop to the decay and decline of South African metros.

Join the FF Plus and Bianke in taking a strong stand against the decline of Ekurhuleni on November 1. Do your part to help restore the town to its former glory.

Ward 92 Cecilia Smuts:
Cecilia plans to address general infrastructure problems as well as the erection of illegal structures in Ward 92. She is seriously concerned about the frequent water and power outages and will put pressure on the metro council to replace outdated infrastructure and do regular maintenance work.

She is involved in charity projects and regularly collects food donations for the less privileged.

Like the FF Plus, she values the public participation process and the need for consulting with residents to ensure that the best possible solutions, suited to the specific community, are implemented. Effective mutual communication between the elected councillor and the community being serviced is also very important.

Ward 36 Verushka Jacobs:
Verushka has been living and working in Ekurhuleni for three years. She is frequently affected by electricity problems, burst water pipes and inaccurate municipal service accounts and is determined to help resolve these problems.

She is involved in the FF Plus Youth branch in Brakpan, where she also helps to establish vegetable gardens at a local children’s home.

Verushka supports the FF Plus’s policy that councillors are responsible for monitoring the metro council’s performance. She also believes councillors have a duty to provide feedback to residents concerning the city council’s activities.

On November 1, residents have an opportunity to stand up for justice with the FF Plus and to take a stand against the ANC and stop the decline of Ekurhuleni.

Ward 37 Hendrik Theunis (Henk) Schultz:
Henk has been involved in politics since a very young age due to his father’s involvement in the party.

He is well aware of the sewage problems, burst water pipes and unreliable garbage disposal services affecting the area.

Henk is determined to address the service delivery problems in Ekurhuleni. He believes the party’s local government policy provides the solutions needed to put a stop to the decline of municipalities. Join the FF Plus and Henk on November 1 – take a stand against the decline of Ward 37. Do your part to help restore the town to its former glory.
