Wadeville residents heard enough
“We have been begging Ekurhuleni to come and help, but they tell us they don't know what the problem is.”
Wadeville residents are worried about the state of their town when it comes to community safety, proper infrastructure and other basic service delivery issues.
A resident of Cruywagen Park, Lantana Howell, approached GCN with concerns about power outages.

“We have been without power since October 24 at 10:00.
“We have been begging Ekurhuleni to come and help, but they tell us they don’t know what the problem is. They were at the substation on Swart Street and told us they were leaving to fetch parts, we are still waiting,” said Howell.
“Our neighbourhood is packed with illegal buildings and they leave it. People are dumping rubbish on the corners of our streets, our street lights have not been working for months and it attracts criminal activity and we become risks for hijackings,” Howell said.
“Guthrie Road has had major collisions due to potholes and the road that’s been dug up and not repaired.
“The contractors that dug up the road dumped the sand on the corner of Rosslee and Guthrie roads, which causes obstruction of oncoming traffic. It’s only a matter of time before another serious crash occurs.
“We have been living here for 33 years and I’ve never seen Cruywagen Park in such a terrible state,” said Howell.
GCN requested comment from the City of Ekurhuleni by October 29 at 10:00.
At the time of going to print, no comment had been received.
