Elspark’s Muzikayise lives beyond his disabilities

“I had to show that disability does not mean you need to stop living. I found my purpose in music.”

Muzikayise Pooe from Elspark has not allowed his disability to limit how he lives, pursuing his dream of being a singer.

Muzikayise has been the recipient of the Association for the Physically Disabled Achiever of the Year Award (SADMA) for his courage in managing the challenges of his everyday life.

His devotion and determination led him to win a solo award, which was the start of a successful singing career.

Muzikayise’s journey has not been easy.

He was born without arms and legs.

The 36-year-old said it was a challenge growing up and soon realised he needed to find a way to change the way people looked at him.

“I had to show that disability does not mean you need to stop living. I found my purpose in music.”

He aims to help others tap into their own talents through motivational talks.

His genre of music is gospel and Afro-soul.

“Music has always been my refuge, even when I was young. Even without arms and legs, I believe I can fly and change the world through my talent.”

He grabs every opportunity to raise awareness about disability.

“My journey as an artist and motivational speaker taught me a lot and allowed me to share my message to live life to the fullest.”
