Local arts organisation reopens as pandemic eases
The event is part of a cultural dance venture, which encompasses at least five provinces and aims to celebrate African culture and heritage.

With the Covid-19 restrictions lowered and the sunny summer weather permitting, a Vosloorus arts group called Mayibuye Theatre is inviting the community around Kathorus to its first free performance, which will take place at the Nguni Hall in Vosloorus on March 12.
According to Eddie Ngomane, one of the coordinators of the event, the event, which has been dubbed uMlilo we Africa, has been opened to all the people in the arts field.
“We will be hosting a variety of cultural and arts acts, including poets, dancers, actors, musicians and theatre groups that will be part of the uMlilo we Africa tour group, in conjunction with the National Department of Sports, Arts and Culture.”
The event, according to the organisers, is part of a cultural dance venture, which encompasses at least five provinces and aims to celebrate African culture and heritage.
Ngomane said the aim is to develop artists in the community and create jobs in the local creative arts industry while resuscitating the industry following the three negative years under the impact of Covid-19.
“We are in partnership with the national Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, and invite other stakeholders to witness the celebration of different cultures. We also have international relations that we have developed over the years in the countries we’ve toured during our stint abroad,” Ngomane added.
