Khumalo is not new to the management department. Before her appointment with Bertha, she was in charge of Thembisa Hospital’s quality assurance department.

She has also held a position as an operational manager, as well as acting CEO at Heidelberg Hospital, and was also responsible for the establishment of Pholosong Hospital Wound Care Management Clinic.

Khumalo brings extensive experience in the healthcare sector.

She is a qualified professional nurse and holds a national diploma in clinical nursing science and a diploma in general nursing from Ann Latsky Nursing College.

She also has an advanced certificate in project management from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and another advanced certificate in healthcare management from the Foundation for Professional Development. Khumalo said she is passionate about patients’ care and offers excellent service.

“I am grateful to be part of the Bertha Gxowa Hospital team and am looking forward to working with the team.

“Our primary obsession as the Department of Health is always patient care and making sure our services are clinician-led and patient-centred,” said Khumalo.

She said her plan for the hospital is to keep it as a centre of excellence.

“As the hospital, we wish to become the centre of excellence in all areas and continue rendering quality services in Ekurhuleni South.

“We will ensure we change the lives of our patients.

“They must leave the hospital with a positive attitude and wish to come back again,” said Khumalo.
