Sgt Styles Maome, Primrose SAPS communications officer, said police were informed about the matter when they had arrested another suspect.

“The police proceeded to the address provided by the informant. They found the suspect’s sister at the Marathon address and they requested the woman to contact the man to come home,” said Maome.

“On arrival, the police instructed the suspect to hand over the firearm.

“The accused did not hesitate. He got the firearm from where it had been hidden and handed it to the police. He was detained at Primrose SAPS. Both suspects will appear in Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon,” said Maome.
