Zonkezizwe family heartbroken after their missing son found dead

Sphamandla Sithole who went missing on April 9 was found at a government mortuary in Germiston.

The Sithole and Zulu family are heartbroken after their son, Sphamandla ‘Khoikhoi’ Sithole (33) from Zonkezizwe, was found at a government mortuary in Germiston.

The younger brother of Sithole, Mpiyakhe Zulu, found his brother’s body at the mortuary. The news was shared by a close family friend Jabulani Dube, who said the family is heartbroken.

Sithole went missing on April 9, after he went to consult a client in Palm Ridge.

Zulu described his brother as a spiritual healer.

He said at the time Sithole left home he was wearing green trousers, a white and grey jacket and black and white sneakers.

“When he did not return home, the family became very concerned. I had to go look for him at Palm Ridge on Tuesday as I was coming from work.”

Zulu said he visited his brother’s client and later went to his brother’s friends around Palm Ridge.

“It was confirmed that he arrived on Saturday for work and left on the same day after he was done around 18:00. Apparently, my brother was going to sleep at a friend’s place,” Zulu said.

“I went to visit some of his friends where I only found his bag. They told me that he arrived, left his bag and said he is coming back,” he said.

“He said close to midnight that he was going to a tavern unknown to them.”

He said they went to the tavern with his brother’s photo.

“There was one person who confirmed he Sithole that evening at the tavern. When I asked what time he left he said he did not stay long.”

He said the tavern has CCTV cameras but the owner informed them that the footage is removed after seven days.
Sithole has three children – two boys aged five and seven, and a newborn baby girl who was born a week after he went missing.

His parents Nomvula Zulu (60) and Phathumuzi Sithole (71) said the family is not coping.

“He was loved in the community. This is why this is so confusing as to what happened to him,” said Dube.

Zonkezizwe SAPS confirmed the missing person’s docket was opened, which has been transferred to Eden Park SAPS.
