Ekurhuleni Youth Day line up of events

In partnership with various organisations, City of Ekurhuleni has embarked on a series of youth events across the City to celebrate Youth Month.

June 16 marks Youth Day, and several organisations, individuals and the metro have organised events to commemorate the heroes of June 16, 1976.

The City of Ekurhuleni has, in partnership with several organisations, embarked on a series of youth events across the City to celebrate Youth Month.

The youth programme kicked off on June 6 and will run up until early July.

It has members of the State Health Research Advisory Council taking part in a youth camp on tackling drugs and substance abuse from June 6 -10 at Sanca Horizon.

Entrepreneurs with registered businesses in the Kathorus and surrounds can commemorate June 16 through an exclusive pitching session.

The top three pitches will stand a chance to pitch their business at the main Festival of Ideas to be held on June 29 when you stand a chance to win a share of R100 000 in business support prices.

Showcasing concert

The OR Tambo Cultural Precinct in Wattville will be a hive of activities when the city hosts the second edition of the Showcasing Concert on June 11.

Scores of young people from far and wide will flock in to share a stage, showcasing an array of exhilarating performing arts skills in celebration of Youth Month.

The annual concert has gained popularity from art lovers from across the city and beyond since the first edition was held last year.

This year’s concert promises to be bigger and better with the addition of more performing arts disciplines such as poetry, dance, disc jockeying, storytelling, music and marimba band among others.

Admission to the concert is free and all Covid-19 regulations will be observed.

Alcoholic beverages will not be allowed. The concert will kick off at 10h00 at OR Tambo Cultural Precinct.
