Spokesperson of the City Zweli Dlamini said the delay in restoring power to Germiston areas was due to damage of high voltage cables next to a substation supplying the areas.

“The energy team is now testing the supply system, and power is expected back by 15h00 today, June 24,” Dlamini said.

Affected areas are Delville, Denlee, Lambton, Hazelpark, Parkhill Gardens, Mimosa Park, Lambton Gardens, Gosforth Park, Elandshaven and Castleview.

“Another high voltage cable fault is also affecting Malven East, Wychwood, Primrose Hill, Simmer Field, Dania Park and Primrose.

“The team is on site. The restoration time is also expected to be this afternoon,” said Dlamini.
