Albermarle potholes to be fixed in the new financial year
“The department appointed patching contractors, work packages have been allocated for them and Pelican Street is also included in the list,” said Dlamini.
Residents of Pelican Street in Albermarle are still waiting for the road to be refurbished after the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) stated it will attend to the matter in May this year.

Coe stated at the time the road will be rehabilitated in the new financial year.
Resident Joe Gopie who has complained to CoE about the conditions of the road said the metro made a promise to residents.
On July 8, MMC for roads and stormwater Alco Ngobese was praising city officials for clearing 65% of the potholes backlog since the inception of the war-on-potholes campaign.
“We have personnel on the ground attending to potholes across the city.
“The campaign has gained momentum, thanks to the financial injection of R285m for pothole repairs.
“While we have identified the roads the team will target, we also urge residents to report potholes in their areas,” said Ngobese.
In response to a question about Pelican Street, CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said Pelican Street will be done in the first quarter of the 2022/23 financial year.
“The department appointed patching contractors, work packages have been allocated for them and Pelican Street is also included in the list,” said Dlamini.
He said the dates and areas of when the work will be done in Germiston are not yet available.
“The dates and areas that the programme will ensue upon are dependent on the mayor as this is a mayoral programme.
“At the moment the depot has prioritised areas that have been logged on the city’s incident management system,” said Dlamini.
“The campaign will run until there is an improvement on the roads,” said Dlamini.
