Vosloorus SAPS spoil senior citizens for Mandela day

The event aimed to educate, comfort and encourage unity amongst senior citizens.

Elderly beneficiaries from Vosloorus Old Age Home (VOAH) enjoyed a Mandela Day filled with laughter, entertainment and gifts.

The home is located at 1377 Mokgako Road, Ext 1, Vosloorus.

Vosloorus SAPS organised the event in partnership with various stakeholders including the Women’s Network, Men For Change, Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences, and Thuthuzela Care Centre.

Stakeholders who made the event possible include Women’s Network, Men For Change, Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences and Thuthuzela Care Centre among others.

Easy Pay, Izintombi ZikaMashai, Vosloorus Green Door, and the Gender Base Violence Brigade from the Department of Community Safety also came on board.

The event aimed to educate, comfort and encourage unity among senior citizens and to give back by showing love and care towards them.

VOAH received a donation of cleaning materials including washing powder and detergents.

Donation handed over to Vosloorus Old Age Home, on July 18.

While senior citizens received winter socks to keep warm, they were also spoiled with a special launch courtest of Anka’s Kitchen.

The SAPS reminded senior citizens that the duties of police officers are to prevent crime before it takes place, but thic can only be successful if all inhabitants of South Africa are working together with the police to fight crime.
