120 suspects arrested for various crimes around Ekurhuleni
The suspects are arrested for crimes ranging from murder, rape, common robbery and possession of suspected stolen property among others.
Police arrested a total of 120 suspects for various crimes, in the 12 police stations within Ekurhuleni West Zone Four, between August 26 and 28.
Katlehong South SAPS media liaison officer constable Sivenkosi Mtwa said the arrests emanate from various crime prevention operations by law enforcement agencies like EMPD and other stakeholders.
The suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from murder, rape, common robbery, possession of suspected stolen property, possession and dealing in drugs, business burglary, the pointing of a firearm at someone, possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of a dangerous weapon.
Others were arrested for house burglary and theft, domestic violence, trespassing, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, dealing in liquor without a licence, drunk driving, common assault, malicious damage to property, theft, interfering with police duties, reckless and negligent driving, contempt of court, illegal possession of live rounds of ammunition, culpable homicide, shoplifting and illegal immigrants.
“On the other end, Katlehong Vispol members also arrested a 32-year-old suspect for possession of dagga, while they were doing their normal routine patrols around Moleleki Ext 2 in the early hours of the morning,” said Mtwa.
The arrested suspects will appear soon in various magistrate’s courts around Ekurhuleni, while some paid admission of guilt, were warned and released.
