“I understand the frustrations of Elsburg and Klippoortjie residents. There are service delivery groups for each area within Ward 39 where updates are given as much as possible.
“These are not received regularly from departments because the teams on the ground are working under strenuous circumstances and they can’t answer a phone call every half hour or answer a message.
“When they can communicate, they do and this is relayed to residents in the groups,” said Ingram.

She said the reason for the last outage was due to multiple faults on the ring feed line.
“These faults take time to locate and once located, the ground needs to be dug up to access the cable before it can be repaired. This is a lengthy process. If not done correctly, it will cause more frequent outages,” said Ingram.

She said she is here to serve the community and she will always try to respond to everyone.
“I am always available to residents and answer individual messages as much as possible.
“Often I respond as early as 01:00 in the morning or 05:00.
“Mostly during the days, various meetings need to be attended to and this is where the Ward 39 committee and volunteers also assist with feedback to residents,” explained Ingram.
She said she would like to ensure residents that she is committed to the cause of providing excellent service.
“I would like to assure the community that their interests are always taken into consideration and the city is always doing what they can to improve services and feedback to residents with regards to service delivery,” said Ingram.
She encouraged residents to continue reporting any issues and obtain reference numbers.
