Described as friends and pillars of support to the school, Edenglen High School’s PR and marketing coordinator Itumeleng Gwangwa said saying goodbye is never easy.

Edenglen High School teacher Alexa van Ruben will be saying goodbye to the school after 40 years.

The school bid farewell and wished Dr Eugene Wilsenach and Alexa von Ruben a happy and healthy retirement ahead.

“It is impossible to put into words the difference you have made and the impact you had on learners, staff and at large, the community.”

Eugene served the school for 19 years while Alexa gave 40 years of her life to the school.

Edenglen wished the duo happiness and joy in abundance.

“Rest after the years of marking, teaching and burning the midnight oil to create a successful learning environment,” said Itumeleng.

“As teachers you have had real love and concern for your learners. Over the years learners were taught the importance of discipline, dedication and perseverance.”

Itumeleng said this was done by the way the teachers lived their lives and the examples they set.

“Edenglen High’s staff, parents and the school management team will feel the void in your departure.

“Despite this, our hearts are excited for you to start new chapters in your lives.”
