Another Primrose Police officer joins Ithembelihle school

Sergeant Gemina Tshabalala joins Sergeant Styles Maome of Primrose SAPS at Ithembelihle LSEN School as the new adopt-a-cop officer in charge of the school’s safety.

Tshabalala is looking forward to the new challenges that await her.

Maome said he acts as the station school’s coordinator.

“This means that we have extra hands and someone available to the schools to directly interact with.

“Every school in Primrose has a cop ‘adopted’ by the school. The concern with Ithembelihle is that they are victims of petty thievery. This is a common problem that learners face, particularly in high school.

“To combat this, we visit schools and educate learners about these crimes,” Maome explained.

Khumalo says she enjoys working with children and will prioritise the learners’ needs.

“I have already highlighted the challenges and I am ready to face them. We must recognise dealing with disabled children is difficult. We also encourage parents and the community to continue working with us.

“We are now focusing on safety issues and safeguarding the school facilities, children and equipment,” said Tshabalala.
