Local musician Joy Mkhwanazi had fans in praise after releasing the long-awaited music video of his last dropped EP Siyabangena this month.
Thokoza’s well-known artist, known as DopeFlop Music, had the country waiting with bated breath while waiting for the Siyabangena music video.
The well-liked local performer began his musical career at the age of 12. A year later, he started recording his music in the studio, and since then, he has not turned back.
According to the local star, after he released his EP in November last year, he wanted his fans to fall in love with this EP and get to experience the message behind it.
“After observing the audience’s response, I knew that I should walk the extra mile to deliver a quality music video. I worked so hard to ensure that everything was spot on from organising the music video venue, Wild Waters, down to the production crew, Potoko Plugging,” said DopeFlop Music.
A lot of people jumped on to the #SiyabangenaChallenge on social media platforms (Instagram and Tik Tok) with over a million views using the song.
DopeFlop Music has performed alongside several top-charting musicians, including Big Zulu (also known as Siyabonga Nene, the founder of Nkabi Records), Silo Magolide, Musiholiq, Mduduzi Ncube, Lwando Buso, and Musiholiq.
The talented star said that through music, he has acquired time management abilities. He started playing music in elementary school, and to achieve both his ambitions and his parents’ goals, he needed to balance music and academics.
“My next big gig is to help upcoming artists. We are talking about those who are not yet recognised and do not know where to start to reach their music career goals.
“I am planning to organise multiple events in various areas where some of the big celebrities will be featured along with the upcoming musicians so as to share some light and career wisdom with them,” said DopeFlop Music.
The aspirational musician wants to provide his fans with more music that will resonate with every person who believes that life is full of a variety of paths that leads to long-desired goals.
