Primrose netball club needs sponsorship
The club is now affiliated with the Ekurhuleni Netball Association (ENA) and competes with teams in Region A.

Primrose Stars of Tomorrow Netball Club urged the community to assist with sponsorship of transport, kit and training facilities for the club to flourish.
The club, founded in November 2023 by Thabang Lekalakala, has enjoyed enormous success the previous year.
Lekalakala used to coach boys’ soccer before switching things up. His passion for netball and nurturing girls grew as he slowly adjusted to the courts.

The Germiston Stadium netball courts have become their grounds.
Lekalakala stated the challenge stems from a lack of training facilities in Primrose, forcing them to find alternative training grounds.
“We are looking for a school to partner with and allow us to use their facilities. In return, we can help them start a netball team or train their existing ones,” said Lekalakala.
“The biggest challenge the team faces is finances. We come from different backgrounds, united by a common purpose of playing netball and winning.
“The team is passionate, and we demonstrated our strengths last year at the ENA games within all our divisions,” he said.

“The U11s have won their league, U13s placed third and U15s placed second on the log.
“Our team is dedicated to providing a positive outlet and support system for young girls in our community, aiming to keep them off the streets and empower them through sports.
“Netball has proven to be a powerful tool in fostering camaraderie, discipline and physical fitness among our players. However, many team members lack the equipment and resources to participate and develop their skills.
“We are seeking donations to help provide essential items such as netball playing kits, shoes and balls,” said Lekalakala.
Member of the club Mirriam Namara said since joining the club she has formed a bond of sisterhood with the other players.

“I played soccer as a child until my teacher in Grade Six introduced me to netball. I fell in love with it and never looked back,” said Namara.
“I have collected several accolades throughout my schooling years. I also could play in Botswana, representing my school.
“We are a goal-driven team and have good players. When I first joined, it was like playing alongside girls who have been together for years. All we need is the opportunity to prove ourselves,” said Namara.
