Community members rallied at Herman Immelman Stadium as the inaugural walk raised funds for a new language lab to support learners’ education.
The inaugural 5km fundraising walk in support of Galway Primary School proved a clear success, drawing a strong turnout and energetic community participation at Herman Immelman Athletic Stadium on April 12.
Hosted by the Walking the Talk Foundation in partnership with Macsteel, the event brought together residents, families and supporters, all united by a shared goal, which is to invest in the future of local learners.
From early morning, participants laced up and took to the track, creating a vibrant atmosphere marked by enthusiasm and purpose.

The steady stream of walkers reflected the community’s commitment to supporting education and upliftment initiatives.
Founder and director of the Walking the Talk Foundation, Dale van Blerk, confirmed that the event met expectations, with encouraging participation levels for its first edition.
He noted that Galway Primary School was selected as the beneficiary after being nominated by Macsteel, a platinum partner of the foundation.
All proceeds from the walk will go directly towards the development of a new language lab at the school.
The planned facility aims to provide a modern, future-focused learning environment that will enhance both teaching and learning outcomes.
Van Blerk said the long-term vision is to equip and expand the lab into a fully developed space that can elevate the school’s language curriculum to an international standard, giving learners access to improved educational opportunities.
