It’s time for another season of Legends are Made, with Season 4 strutting into Boksburg from June 5 to 7 – this year with an interesting twist!
The organisers are including a Performance Cheer Poms category! So, if your school or dance studio does pom poms, this is your moment to shine.

As is tradition with this competition, founded by professional dancers Duerell Delano de Pontes of Benoni and Chanel Jacobs of Boksburg, aspiring young dancers from Soweto’s Magic Feet Dance Foundation again received a generous donation of shoes, outfits and cash from Duerell’s School of Music, Drama and Dance to enable them to take the stage with confidence this year.
The handover to Magic Feet, which registered as an NPO in 2021, recently took place at the venue for this year’s competition, Woodlands International College, in Boksburg.
The studio’s dance coach, Salvation Molaolwe, explained the organisation was established in 1996 and has been creating opportunities for young dancers ever since.

“We compete provincially and nationally. Most of our dancers come from disadvantaged backgrounds financially, so sponsorships and donations make a big difference.”
Duerell, owner of Duerell’s School of Music, Drama and Dance, said giving back to young people in need is important and encouraged the community to come out and support the talent on stage during Legends Are Made Season 4.

The three-day event will feature freestyle, rock n roll, disco, hip hop, slow dance, acro, lyrical, jazz, amapiano, showdance, ballroom and Latin (international/American/pro-am), vocals, and more.
Chanel said they’re excited about the addition of performance cheerleaders.
“We wanted to change things up a little, so audiences can expect extra thrills when the cheerleaders take the stage.”
De Pontes, the founder of Duerell’s School of Music, Drama and Dance, is a former 10-time SA ballroom and Latin-American champion, representing SA in England and France, and an International Dance Teachers’ Association Fellow-qualified ballroom and Latin-American adjudicator.
