Police operation yields positive result in Thokoza
The operation was conducted between 18:00 and 02:00.
Police arrested 139 suspects during the multi-disciplinary operations led by Lebohang Machakela at Thokoza, on the evening of January 21.
At least six police stations participated in the operation namely Thokoza, Eden Park, Vosloorus Zonkezizwe, Brackendowns and Katlehong North and South SAPS.
Police also received support from the CPF, Ekurhuleni Thatha-zonke Anti-Crime Unit and the office of the MEC for Community Safety, Ward 53 Clr Mziyanda Mketsu.
The operation was conducted between 18:00 and 02:00 which included roadblocks, stop and searches, and visits to illegal liquor outlets and drug dealers at Phola Park and Mpiliweni.
The suspects were arrested for crimes including possession of a stolen vehicle, armed robbery, crimen injuria, theft general, arson, possession of drugs, possession of dagga, dealing in dagga, dealing in drugs, shoplifting, assault with domestic violence, contravention of protection order, warrant of arrest, possession of an unlicensed firearm,
Other crimes incldued assault common, assault GBH, malicious damage to property, tempering with infrastructure, housebreaking, murder, drunk driving, selling liquor without a license, common robbery, business break-in, possession of stolen property, rape, possession of illegal explosives, reckless and negligent driving and bribery.
The suspects are expected to appear in various magistrate’s courts.
