EMPD arrests two men for tampering with Germiston City Hall infrastructure
The EMPD arrested two men for allegedly tampering with essential city infrastructure, sending a strong warning to lawbreakers.
The EMPD Intervention Unit arrested two men, aged 26 and 27, after officers caught them tampering with essential infrastructure in Germiston.
According to the EMPD, officers received a complaint after cameras captured the men jumping into the Germiston City Hall building.
Responding swiftly, officers spotted the two men outside the building carrying bags.

A tactical approach and search revealed electrical wiring and transformers in their possession. Officers arrested them and took them to the Germiston Police Station on charges of tampering with essential infrastructure.
They will soon appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.

“The EMPD wants to send a clear message that tampering with or damaging the CoE’s essential infrastructure will not be tolerated. We will pursue criminal proceedings against offenders and ensure those responsible are brought to justice,” the department said in a statement.
