Three suspects linked to Germiston Home Affairs fire granted bail
Three suspects charged with arson and public violence will appear at Germiston Regional Court on October 24 as their case proceeds.
The case involving three suspects charged with arson and public violence in connection with the burning of the Germiston Home Affairs office continues.
The matter has been transferred to the Germiston Regional Court for further investigation and formal enrolment.
The trio – Mofart Phiri, Katlego Simango and Given Mlambo – made their final appearance at the Germiston Magistrates’ Court on October 7.

During the proceedings, the prosecution requested that the matter be moved to the regional court due to the serious nature of the charges.
The accused are scheduled to make their first appearance before the Germiston Regional Court on 24 October.
In a development during the October 7 hearing, Advocate Tshepo Kapa withdrew his legal representation for the accused, Given Mlambo.
Mlambo informed the court that he would apply for Legal Aid to represent him going forward.
All three men were previously granted R2 000 bail each. Magistrate Baloyi confirmed that their bail conditions remain in effect until their next court appearance.
