EMPD arrests trio in Primrose for armed robbery and illegal firearm

Three men were caught with a gun, knives, and suspected stolen cellphones during a police operation on Cyndonia Road.

EMPD Intervention Unit officers arrested three men in Primrose on October 21.

According to the EMPD, the officers were conducting an operation following a tip-off regarding people in possession of unlicensed firearms.

During the stakeout, a man approached the officers and alleged that three unknown men had pointed a firearm at him and robbed him of his cellphone.

Searching them revealed one gun with defaced serial numbers, two knives and two possibly stolen cellphones.

The trio was arrested and detained at the Primrose Police Station. They face multiple charges, including armed robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm, dangerous weapons and suspected stolen property.

The suspects will soon appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
