By-law operation sees eight vehicles impounded across Ekurhuleni

The EMPD Towing Unit removed eight vehicles from public roads for multiple by-law violations, including unroadworthy conditions and illegal roadside repairs.

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) has impounded eight vehicles during recent by-law enforcement operations conducted across various areas of the City of Ekurhuleni.

According to a statement released by the EMPD, the impoundments were carried out by the department’s Towing Unit after officers identified multiple contraventions.

These included the operation of unroadworthy vehicles, illegal parking and the conducting of unlawful roadside mechanical repairs.

The department said such violations pose a risk to road users and undermine safety and order in public spaces.

The EMPD confirmed that similar operations will continue as part of ongoing efforts to enforce municipal by-laws and promote safer, cleaner and more orderly communities across the metro.

Residents and motorists are urged to comply with traffic and by-law regulations to avoid penalties and the impoundment of vehicles.
