Stillborn baby found dead in Katlehong

Police confirmed a case of concealment death has been opened.

Katlehong police detectives are investigating a case of concealment death after a lifeless body of a stillborn baby, suspected to be a boy, was found by community members at Dikole Section, Katlehong, on August 17.

According to Katlehong South SAPS media liaison office Constable Sivenkosi Mtwa, police received a complaint at approximately 14:00 from a community member who observed a stillborn laying in an open space at Dikole Section.

“On arrival, the police found a group of community members gathered near the scene, showing the police where the stillborn was laying.

“All role players were summoned. The paramedics declared the stillborn dead and the body was taken to a government mortuary,” said Mtwa.

He said the police have opened a case docket for concealment of death for further investigation.

“Police are pleading to the community who might have information about the case to report it.”

Mtwa assured that the information received will be kept confidential.
