“Mental health concerns are on the rise and with the added stressors and uncertainties that many face today, SADAG recognises the need for accessible and compassionate support.”

To commemorate World Mental Health Awareness Month the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (Sadag) is launching four new free online support platforms.

“These new online support groups are safe and inclusive spaces where people can connect, share experiences and receive guidance,” she said.

The group will be hosted on Microsoft Teams at 12:00 and they will meet monthly.

On October 6, they will launch a support group for teachers and student teachers.

“Each group will be facilitated by a trained Sadag support group leader who has personal experiences with various mental health conditions.”

Stacey Coconas, Sadag’s support group coordinator, expressed excitement about the launch of these new groups, saying: “We understand the challenges people face when seeking help for their mental health and our online support groups are designed to break down those barriers.
