Taal-Net celebrates 14 years

The arts festival is a day dedicated to celebrating and acknowledging other cultures.

The Taal-Net Group of Schools held its annual arts festival celebrations recently.

The location was Taal-Net Beula Park, in Germiston at the Mount Zion Prayer Mountain Events Hall.

The performances included poetry and traditional dance.

This year, they added additional categories such as journalism, ballet, and a fashion show, including garments created and manufactured by Taal-Net students.

Live streaming of this event was available on the Taal-Net TV profile and their Facebook page, the Taal-Net Group of Schools where parents from Zimbabwe and South Africa were watching.

Kempton Park learners Ndhlovu Busisiwe, Vimbayinashe Mupunga and Masemola Kgomaretsane in the journalism category.

Director of Independent Schools Mosibudi Makhubela highlighted lines from Kenny Rogers’ song Something Inside So Strong during her speech about how important it is for students to always give it their all and have faith that they will be rewarded for their efforts.

“The arts festival is a day dedicated to celebrating and acknowledging other cultures.

“This is the day we encourage students to display their artistic abilities and the beauty of their culture.

“It is also the anniversary of the Group of Schools, as this year marks its 14th anniversary,” said their marketing supervisor Nomsa Radebe.

“A new category, coach of the year, was created for the group of schools’ most resilient coaches, won by Keith Dube, a teacher and coach at Taal-Net International.

‘Numerous awards and certificates were given to the students who won the category,” said Radebe.

Based on the branch-specific results for the day, Taal-Net International (Turffontein) emerged as the current champions, followed by Kempton Park in third place and Randburg in second,” said Radebe.
