Train stations in Elandsfontein and Marlands now operational

Guerreiro said minor works remain, but he is confident they will soon be complete.

Ward 92 Clr Kade Guerreiro is celebrating the reopening of two train stations in his ward.

The Elandsfontein and Marlands train stations have been repurposed and refurnished and are open for public use.
Since 2022, the two stations have been vandalised and equipment stolen.

Guerreiro said cables and valuables were stolen during Covid-19 years from both stations because of a lack of security.

“I am excited about the stations opening to the public. This means the public will have options to use a cheaper mode of transport,” said Guerreiro.

Ward 92 Clr Kade Guerreiro welcomes the reopening of two train stations in his ward.

“In Elandsfontein, there are options – a taxi rank is opposite the station, which means there are now alternatives.

“This also creates opportunities for vendors who sell near the stations. What excites me more is the stations were revamped and painted with 24-hour security.

“Residents must feel safe using trains. That is the feeling I get. The factories around Elandsfontein rely on commuters commuting from Thembisa, Kempton Park and other areas.”
