Sewage affects Hoërskool Goudrif
"The school has informed me that the area where parents park their cars to pick up their children after school was also submerged in water," said Guerreiro.
Hoërskool Goudrif finds itself grappling with a sewage spillage predicament that is wreaking havoc on its premises, particularly affecting the netball courts and parking lot.
Ward 92 Clr Kade Guerreiro raised concerns over the mishandling of the situation by city officials tasked with resolving the sewage issue in the neighbourhood.

Guerreiro reported that attempts to address the blockage resulted in further complications, with a section of the pipe becoming lodged in the manhole.

“The aftermath of their intervention left a piece of the pipe protruding from the school wall,” Guerreiro said.
“Subsequent efforts to locate and rectify the problem led to an excavation within the school premises, causing disruption and disarray.”
The repercussions of the unsuccessful intervention soon became apparent as a nearby manhole burst, releasing sewage water that inundated the netball courts and surrounding areas.
Guerreiro emphasised the financial and practical implications of the damage inflicted on the school’s facilities, particularly the costly netball courts.

“Such incidents not only compromise the integrity of essential school amenities but also pose health risks to staff and students who are exposed to the sewage odour,” Guerreiro emphasised.

“The spillage has extended to areas where parents typically park their vehicles, compounding the inconvenience for the school community.”
As the school struggles with the aftermath of the sewage spillage, urgent action is required to mitigate the damage and ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals on the premises.
