Southerns Beekeeping Association marks World Bee Day

More than 50 SBA members and guests visited the recently inaugurated clubhouse in the Modderfontein Nature Reserve.

According to the Southerns Beekeeping Association (SBA), bees are among the most important pollinators, contributing to food and food security, sustainable agriculture and biodiversity.

More than a third of all plants and plant products consumed depend on their pollination.

Honeybees are so important in the world that in 2018, the United Nations declared May 20 as World Bee Day, said Len Boucher, the chairperson of the SBA.
