Historical presentation hosted at Modderfontein Conservation Society
A collection of letters from a woman living in Pretoria at the turn of the 20th century will form the basis of the talk.
National tourist and nature guide William Hall is set to give an illustrated presentation as the next guest speaker at Modderfontein Conservation Society’s monthly talks.
The talk on October 26 will focus on civilian life in Pretoria before, during and after British occupation during the Boer War in 1900.
It will be held at the Modderfontein Reserve’s Education Centre lapa at 14:00.

A collection of letters from a woman living in Pretoria at the turn of the 20th century will form the basis of the talk.
The letters, sourced from an honour student’s thesis, were written to a friend in the Cape Colony and inspired William Hall to prepare this presentation.
In addition to being a qualified electro-technical engineer, Hall has a particular interest in South African history, especially the Anglo-Boer War.
This interest has led him to qualify as a national tourist guide working with international groups visiting South Africa.
He is also a qualified nature guide in savanna and grassland biomes.
