WATCH: Gauteng’s Top Achiever Honoured

Gauteng’s brightest star, Mswawenkosi Buthelezi, secured the province’s top spot and ranked second nationally.

Mswawenkosi Buthelezi of KwaThema was celebrated for his outstanding academic achievements as the City of Ekurhuleni Mayor, Ald.

Nkosindiphile Xhakaza, awarded him R20,000 during the Godfrey Pitje Academic Excellence Awards held at the Dumisani Masilela Theatre in Germiston.

Accompanied by Matome Chiloane, MEC for Gauteng Education, Mayor Xhakaza presented Buthelezi with several awards, including a special cheque for his remarkable performance.

Buthelezi was recognised as the top achiever in Gauteng and second in South Africa for the 2024 matric results.

In his next chapter, Buthelezi is set to pursue a career in medicine in Cape Town.

The awards ceremony not only highlighted academic excellence but also celebrated the dedication of learners and educators across the province, while honouring Godfrey Pitje’s legacy of uplifting education standards.
