Charity donates to Germiston learners for a matric farewell

A Girl and Guy’s Dream Come True: Transforming Matriculants Farewell Dreams Since 2010.

This year, A Girl and Guy’s Dream Come True continues its tradition by dressing 20 matriculants of Germiston High School.

These learners are from less fortunate communities.

The charity is calling on individuals and businesses to be part of this life-changing experience.

From donating dresses and suits to providing hairstyling, makeup, or transport, every contribution helps create cherished memories for students who deserve to feel celebrated.

Erin Oberholster was named the ambassador of the organisation.

“What started as a heartfelt initiative in 2010 has grown into a movement of generosity and transformation.

“A Girl and Guy’s Dream Come True, a charity dedicated to affording less fortunate matriculants an unforgettable farewell experience, held its first event at Germiston High School, where 10 deserving students were given the full matric ball experience—dressed in stunning attire, styled to perfection, and chauffeured in elegance,” said chairperson Louise Wood.

“Since that memorable night, the charity has continued its mission to ensure that no student misses out on their special milestone due to financial constraints. With the generous support of sponsors, volunteers, and the community, the initiative has touched the lives of over 500 students across various schools, including learners from the Afrikaanse Hoërskool based in Germiston as well as learners based in the Vaal Triangle.

“In addition to creating unforgettable farewell experiences, A Girl and Guy’s Dream Come True has also assisted students with learnerships through partnerships with an insurance company based in Bedfordview, the Hotel School in Potchefstroom, and the SAPS.

Financial director Shaun Carter encourages people to get involed with the organisation.

“For more information, sponsorship opportunities, or ways to get involved, please do not hesitate to contact us by calling or sending a WhatsApp text to Jenny Pressly at 062 563 9646. Join us in making a difference and ensuring that every matriculant can experience the joy and magic of their farewell. Together, we can help turn dreams into reality,” said Wood.

“We are a registered charity that aims to provide underprivileged matriculants with the opportunity to experience their matric farewell in style.

Through the support of local businesses, volunteers, and the community, the organisation has been able to grant the wishes of numerous students, allowing them to create unforgettable memories on a milestone that celebrates their hard work and achievements,” said Wood.
