Two Gauteng teachers perish in car crash

The The Gauteng Department confirmed the deaths of two teachers from Ennerdale Secondary School.

The Gauteng Department (GDE) confirmed the deaths of two Ennerdale Secondary School male teachers, aged 26 and 28 respectively.

They had been reported missing and their death has now been linked to a fatal car crash on April 12.

According to the information at our disposal, the crash occurred on Saturday morning on the R28 close to the Lenasia turn-off in Jachtfontein. One vehicle involved had three occupants, two of which were the teachers.

“We extend heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, the learners, colleagues and the broader Ennerdale school community.

“This is an immense loss to the education sector and to all who knew and worked with these educators,” said MEC Matome Chiloane.

The SAPS is investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident. The GDE has arranged for wellness professionals, including support from the Teddy Bear Clinic, to visit the school and provide trauma counselling and psychological support to the staff and learners.
